Kay Kramer, co-founded the company in 1990 to create a firm dedicated to lasting, productive relationships with clients. Kay and the Birchwood team use their extensive knowledge and team collaboration to help clients achieve their goals.
Clients know Kay as someone who brings clarity and honesty to all of her recommendations. She understands that every goal is unique, as are the financial solutions necessary to achieve that goal. Kay is also passionate about sustainable, responsible, impact investing and philanthropy and encourages clients to participate in charitable giving. She models this encouragement by arranging volunteer opportunities for clients and staff in addition to offering a policy that allows employees to take time off to volunteer for their community.
Kay has presented seminars on a variety of topics for corporations and community organizations and has been quoted numerous times in the Star Tribune, the Minnesota Women's Press and City Business. Her volunteer commitments include: past president of the Sheltering Arms Foundation, co-chair of the personnel committee of her parish, St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church in Minneapolis and continuing involvement with the Women's Foundation of Minnesota. Kay is also a former trustee of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota.
She enjoys domestic and international travels, including an annual trip to Hawaii with her spouse and past trips to Africa and Antarctica. She also participates in sailing, canoeing and kayaking and escapes to her cabin in the woods of northern Wisconsin.

Finding that her objectives differed from those of her employer, Kay and her co-founding partner made the decision to form Birchwood Financial Partners. Providing clients with the financial resources to help achieve their goals in a way that matches their values has given her much joy.
