It's a question we believe everyone should be asking their financial advisor. Birchwood is a fee-only independent financial planning and investment management firm. We base those fees on the amount of assets we’re managing for a client. Fees are paid directly from the client’s accounts to Birchwood Financial Partners on a quarterly basis. A fee is generally charged on an initial financial plan.
It's a question we believe everyone should be asking their financial advisor. Birchwood is a fee-only, independent financial planning and investment management firm. We base those fees on the amount of assets we’re managing for a client. We are also a fiduciary, meaning we put our client's interests first at all times.
Birchwood is a fiduciary, which means by law we have to put our client's interests ahead of our own. We are paid directly by our clients, and we do not receive commissions from their investment portfolios.
Most people think all financial planners are “certified,” but this isn’t true. Just about anyone can use the title “financial planner.” Only those who have fulfilled CFP® Board's rigorous requirements can call themselves a CFP® professional.
CFP® professionals are held to strict ethical standards to ensure financial planning recommendations are in your best interest. What’s more, a CFP® professional must acquire several years of experience related to delivering financial planning services to clients and pass the comprehensive CFP® Certification Exam before they can call themselves a CFP® professional.
We believe that you should judge performance based on how well you are tracking toward attaining your goals. To measure that well usually requires that both your Birchwood advisor and you are taking the actions we’ve modeled and planned together.
The amount that you delegate to us is determined largely by you—some of our clients want us to manage as much as possible, while others like to stay actively involved in their plan.
Generally, our minimum asset management balance is $1,000,000, but we do make exceptions.
For example, for those in accumulation mode who do not currently meet our minimums but have the means and are motivated to meet them in the future.
Or you expect a sudden money event in your near future that would cause you to meet the minimums such as retirement, inheritance, divorce, etc.
We custody assets with Charles Schwab Institutional.
All of our financial planners are CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERS™(CFP®).
Our investment manager is a Chartered Financial Analyst Program charterholder.
