Jill Vilkama is Birchwood's Chief Compliance Officer and Operations Manager. She oversees compliance for the firm's investment adviser operations and works diligently to help our office comply with current laws and regulatory requirements in our ever-changing financial industry. She loves working in compliance, mostly because it allows her to be involved in all the many interesting areas in our line of work.
In addition to managing Birchwood’s compliance program, she also strives to improve operational processes continuously and is responsible for the systems integration and data management of the various software programs the Birchwood team uses. She brings to the team experience in client services, RIA compliance, trading, and model and cash flow management.
Jill has served in the financial planning industry for over 20 years. She began her career in Client Services and eventually moved into a role as a Financial Planning Associate. A few years later, she was promoted to Director of Operations & Client Services, where she continued to evolve professionally. Along the way, she also gained knowledge about portfolio trading, due diligence, and pooled fund administration.
While raising her oldest child, she temporarily stepped down to working only part-time, focusing mainly on trading, cash flow management, and portfolio administration. Jill assisted with various compliance responsibilities throughout this time.
Jill lives in Roseville and finds herself fairly busy with three kids at home and her dog Chester. She enjoys spending time outdoors when she can, especially on any Minnesota lake. Jill loves to walk along Lake Como and the St. Croix River in Stillwater.
